The Purple Mattress is a true pioneer in regards to a ‘bed in a box’! Purple was one of the very first brands to offer a quality mattress that is shipped right to your doorstep! Their mattresses are good quality, perfect for sleeping in any position and they don’t sleep hot!
The reason why Purple is so successful is their patented Purple Grid. A mix of hyper-elastic gel polymer that creates a truly unique mattress. The material is both firm, yet pressure relieving at the same time. Once you lay on a Purple Mattress and feel just how comfortable it is, you will know what we are talking about!
We found the price point to be decent as well! A queen size mattress will run you about $1399, and with that said, you should know that they typically last 7 – 10 years! It’s considered to be a ‘long lasting’ mattress.
This mattress is best for those who sleep hot, heavier weight side sleepers and back sleepers. If you are looking for a mattress to ‘sink’ into, this is not the one for you. If you are looking for a traditional feeling mattress, this mattress probably wouldn’t cut it for you either.

Construction & Quality
Purple is ranked between a 6 and 7 on the firmness scale, which would mean it is considered a medium firm mattress.
Cover – The cover is unique and proprietary to Purple. It is what the company calls a ‘Purple SoftFlex cover. It is thin, breathable and stretchy enough to move with the Purple’s gel grid.
Comfort Layers – The very first layer is a piece of the 2” Purple Grid. The grid is made up of a hyper-elastic gel polymer that remains firm and supportive until enough pressure is applied. Once enough pressure is applied, the grid will begin to give way and provide relief and support for the sleeper. Foam encases the grid to add extra support.
Support Layer – The Purple Original mattress base layer is made from a supportive, firm foam that provides structure and support for the entire mattress.
The entire mattress measures 9.5” tall.
Overview
The Purple mattress is breathable, which means that you will sleep cool all night long! The foams and grid allow air to flow freely, making this one of the best mattresses on the market in regards to sleeping cool.
The gel grid is a bit bouncy, so the mattress doesn’t do the best job at absorbing motion transfer. This means that if there are two people on the bed and one person rolls over, the other person may feel it.
The foam encasement makes the mattress extremely sturdy. Sitting and lying on the edge of the bed will cause little to no sagging.
The Purple mattress is a very quiet mattress also as there are no springs or moving parts.
Overall, this is a wonderful mattress for the price. If you are thinking about a mattress and have a partner sleeping with you – you may want to consider a different mattress, just because the transfer of motion is noticeable.
Warranty & Trial Period
Purple offers a 100 night sleep trial. If you are not satisfied with the mattress within the first 100 nights, you may return it to the company!
There is a 10 year warranty with all Purple mattresses.
