Our Review
There are three different levels of the Purple Hybrid Mattress. The first one (which this review is based on) is considered firm as it has a 2″ layer of Purple’s GelFlex foam. The Purple Hybrid Premiere 3, has 3″ of GelFlex foam and is considered medium-soft, while the Purple Hybrid Premiere 4 mattress is the softest of the three and features 4″ of GelFlex foam.
The first thing we noticed about the hybrid Purple mattress is the way it feels when laying down on it, versus laying down on Purple’s all foam mattresses (Purple Original and Purple Plus). The hybrid mattresses offer a layer of responsive support coils – so coils are added to the foam construction – thus the hybrid name.
Our first impression when laying down on the hybrid was truly a ‘wow’ moment! It had a supportive and comfortable initial feel! As we laid on the mattress longer, we could tell that our bodies were being supported and that pressure was being relieve from the back and hip area. There is an initial cool feeling in regards to temperature when laying on the mattress – and the mattress maintained it’s coolness throughout our tests.
Construction
The cover has even more stretch than the Purple Plus and Purple Original, the soft top material allows you to feel the full benefits of the Purple Grid, while ultra-breathable woven side panels encourage airflow.
2″ GelFlex foam which is made from temperature-neutral, hyper-elastic GelFlex material, this gridded layer is engineered to flex directly under pressure points while still supporting the rest of your body.
Next is the responsive coil support layer. Individually wrapped stainless steel coils pair with the Grid to offer dynamic pressure relief and support. Each coil is wrapped in premium noise-reducing fabric.
Overview
Our take away on the Purple Hybrid mattress is that it you get a lot of mattress for your money! Purple does an excellent job combining a coil system with integrated foam layers. The mattress has incredible support and sleeps very cool, so perfect for those who may often overheat while sleeping.
If you are looking for a hybrid mattress, definitely add the Purple Hybrid to your list of possibilities. You simply need to figure out which level of firmness you like best – and choose from one of the three Purple Hybrid’s.

Purple offers a 100 night sleep trial. If you are not satisfied with the mattress within the first 100 nights, you may return it to the company!
There is a 10 year warranty with all Purple mattresses.
